COURSE OBJECTIVES

Learn how the various types of residential pools and spas are designed to work.
Recognize visible conditions which represent evidence of the need for repair in residential pools and spas.
Be aware of the obligations borne by inspectors regarding the reporting of adverse conditions found in the residential pools, spas, and associated equipment. 
Become familiar wit the many hazards residential pools and spas present, and the measures which must be taken to maximize pool area safety.

                              ●   Types of construction
                              ●   The interior surface of pools
                              ●   Lights, steps, and ladders
                              ●   Level of the pool structure
                              ●   Diving boards and slides
                              ●   Decks and coping for In-ground pools
                              ●   Special considerations for above ground pools

               Mechanical
                              ●   Exposed plumbing
                              ●   Pumps, timers, and blowers
                              ●   Drains, skimmers, and return inlets
                              ●   Heaters
                              ●   Filters
                              ●   Automatic cleaning equipment

               Electrical
                              ●   Exceptions to the electrical code.
                              ●   Proximity of electrical devices to the pool.
                              ●   GFCI and Disconnect requirements.
                              ●   Bonding / Grounding requirements.

               Barriers
                              ●   Covers and netting. 
                              ●   Height and construction of fence/wall barriers.
                              ●   Portals within the barrier.
                              ●   Above ground structure as a barrier.
